**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Facility Operation Manager will provide leadership and support to maintain the effective, efficient, and safe operations of the College campuses in Vancouver and Surrey.

Facility Operation Manager will report directly to the President and work with a number of College departments to ensure that expected facility levels are maintained.

**EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND**

Bachelor’s degree preferred in business or related discipline.

**YEARS OF EXPERIENCE**

At least five years of progressively responsible work experience in operations and facility management of which at least three years will have been in a supervisory role.

The ability to perform onsite general repair and maintenance functions would be considered an asset.

**SALARY**:$65,000.00 to 70,000.00 per year

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Communication Skills: Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret in formation relevant to the position, including being able to speak effectively to small and large groups of people, and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Leadership Ability: Must be able to articulate the vision and mission for the district and provide appropriate direction, guidance, and management skills to achieve them.
- Mathematics Skills: Must have the ability to work with basic mathematical and computational concepts.
- Reasoning Ability: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control all aspects of campus facility operations and services.
- General knowledge of all phases of facilities operation, maintenance, custodial services.
- Ability to effectively organize and direct personnel during crisis or emergency situations.
- Ability to represent the College effectively and with internal and external individuals, organizations or stakeholders.
- Willingness to participate in professional development to remain current in operations management.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliably commute between the Vancouver and Surrey campuses.

**FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides leadership and general direction for the facilities, maintenance and custodial services on campus. Assists in the development of campus policies and procedures related to these functions.
- Participates in the development of long
- and short-term facilities plans. Investigates and evaluates the immediate and long-range facility needs and requirements with assistance and advice from the President and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Provides coordination between the maintenance and custodial services functions and campus departments. Promotes positive interactions between maintenance and custodial services personnel and other divisions/departments of the campus. Coordinates the needs of these divisions/departments with the service providers.
- Develops and recommends a staffing and training plan to address the needs of the campus for maintenance of its facilities. Supervises and implements approved staffing and training plans.
- Oversees record keeping and documentation for campus facilities including physical space inventory. Supervises staff that maintains updated plans, blueprints and drawings.
- Maintains record keeping system for the effective means of receipt and dispatch of maintenance and custodial services, and facility improvement requests. Develops and implements use of logs and records necessary to provide positive control of flow and progress of work.
- Assists with the process for the selection of consultants for college capital and facilities projects. Consults with, or supervises staff, that consults with architects, engineers, and college departments in the planning and development of major new construction or renovation/refurbishment of existing facilities.
- Establishes procedures for the safe and efficient operation of the college's maintenance and custodial services operations including procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations and other codes and regulations which may apply.
- Directs the operation of the college's waste management and recycling programs.
- Provides effective emergency or crisis response in matters related to campus facilities.
- Prepares and presents written and conducts special projects as required by the President or Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversee maintenance projects and requests on both Vancouver and Surrey campuses.
- Schedule, supervise and monitor the work of other team members and respond to requests made by the President, Senior Leadership Team or other College departments as necessary.
