POSITION OVERVIEW
BDC is looking for a passionate, committed partnerships and business expert to join the Partnerships team to help drive strategic and operational excellence. This position will lead the way in ensuring BDC’s relationships with external partners and stakeholders contribute to BDC’s mission of enabling a nation of dreamers and doers to build a better future for Canada.
As the Manager of National Partnerships, this individual will lead successful partnerships by identifying and securing business partnerships based on performance and results. Reporting to the AVP Partnerships, the position is part of the Strategy team. Responsibilities will be to deliver effective and impactful national partnerships that are aligned with corporate priorities. It also includes the design, the coordination, and implementation of partnership strategies to increase access to capital and advice for all entrepreneurs including underserved entrepreneurs. He or she acts as a liaison between all lines of business as well as corporate in the implementation of corporate strategies.
BDC’s Partnerships team is responsible for oversight and program development for all facets of BDC’s corporate relations and partnerships. The Partnerships team works with all business and operational units across the organisation to fulfill its mandate, ultimately with the goal of helping achieve BDC’s corporate objectives with partnerships geared towards the growth and resilience of Canadian businesses and increasing access to financing and resources for underserved entrepreneurs.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Become the resident expert on partners in the national entrepreneurship ecosystem.- Develop strategic and tactical plans from a partnership standpoint in line with corporate priorities.- Develop new distribution channels in support of corporate priorities including representing BDC with senior representatives and coordinating BDC participation in key partners events.- Develop new partnership channels in support of corporate priorities.- Draft and negotiate Memorandums of Understanding outlining the terms of collaboration with a partner.- Assist the A/ Vice President, Partnerships and other lines of business’s leaders in managing relationships and negotiating partnership agreements with key stakeholders and partners to support corporate objectives.- Develop alternative or new partnership channels that will lead to referrals and eventually result in client acquisitions.- Be the point of contact for partnerships at the National level and share best practices and market intelligence with Head Office and other regions to ensure alignment and maximize outcomes.- Develop and maintain relationships with national partners and stakeholders, and represent BDC as required, in accordance with the policies, corporate directives and procedures in place.- Promote, collect and be accountable for partnership data, metrics and referral sources, to measure and evaluate the impact of such partnerships and relationships.- Collect, analyze and report market intelligence related to partners and stakeholders across business lines.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science or a related field. Master’s degree an asset.- Minimum of eight to ten years of experience in the financial sector and stakeholder management.- Experience in developing business relationships and leveraging strategic partnerships, a strong asset.- A good level of knowledge and understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.- Excellent track record for building positive and long-term relationships with stakeholders, as well as networks with business partners.- Knowledge
