**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- **i) Employee Relations** (50% of time)_
- Develops and maintains effective partnerships with designated business leaders,
- Serves as a trusted HR advisor, providing proactive HR guidance, direction and support on a full range of HR services
- Reviews, directs and administers the accommodation process, disability management, attendance management and injury/illness reporting, WSIB claims and appeals
- Conducts timely and thorough investigations including participating in fact-finding meetings, preparing interview questionnaires, recommending approved courses of action and preparing reports, related correspondence and presents summary of findings
- Maintains expert working knowledge of environmental factors influencing the business (I.e., HR legislation, best practices trends)
- **ii) Labour Relations **(25% of time)_
- Provides expert knowledge, support and guidance on labour relations matters arising from the administration, interpretation and communication of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and employment legislation
- Makes knowledgeable recommendations to proactively identify and mitigate employee and labour relations issues
- Manages all stages of the grievance process, including conducting grievance meetings, preparing responses and negotiating settlements
- Creates arbitration briefs and provides support throughout the arbitration process
- Participates and provides negotiations support
- **iii) General HR Support** (25% of time)_
- Works with operations to develop accurate and up to date job descriptions for review at job evaluation; participates in job evaluation
- Collaborates and acts as a lead in health and safety initiatives
- Participates and/or leads employee engagement, appreciation and recognition events
- Participates and provides HR input on the strategic plan
- Provides HR project support.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 1-3 years of HR generalist experience with a focus on labour relations in a unionized environment
- Human Resources Degree or equivalent; CHRL an asset
- Ability to handle situations professionally with sensitivity, confidentiality, diplomacy and tact
- Solid knowledge of the relevant policies, labour law, employment standards and other regulatory requirements as well as the provisions of the collective agreement
- Proficiency in MS office, including: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Flexibility in work schedule to work weekend or evenings, as may be required
