Academic Dean - Campbell College

Position Description

The Academic Dean serves as the lead academic officer of the College and, as such, should provide vision and leadership to the college.

Areas of responsibility in this position include:

- articulating strategic vision;
- managing the strategic planning process;
- ensuring academic integrity in college programs;
- overseeing faculty selection, retention, promotion and evaluation processes;
- encouraging and supporting excellence in teaching, research/scholarly activity and service;
- promoting collegiality and collaborative relationships internally and externally; managing the fiscal well-being of the college; and promoting alumni and donor relations.

Campbell College provides students with the essential elements of a vocational and career centric education and offers diploma programs in Business Administration, Office Administration, Logistics, Legal and Education related programs complimented by a public-private partnership, a focused and carefully designed approach to student advising and learning; and a faculty of caring experts. A primary goal of the College is to educate students for the knowledge-based economy of the twenty-first century.

Qualifications:

- A Master’s Degree at the minimum in Management. Ph.D. preferred
- Evidence of strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A record of progressively more responsible administrative experience.
- A record of commitment to program growth and academic excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management
- Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership, inclusive excellence, and personal and professional integrity.
- Minimum 5-8 years of teaching and scheduling experience at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Working knowledge and experience of establishing Program Advisory Committees (PACs)
- Proficient in MS Office and related software

Specific job responsibilities for the Academic Dean include:

- Providing transformative leadership and advocacy for the college
- Creating a strategic vision and managing strategic planning processes aligned with broader college strategic goals.
- Supporting and advancing college assessment efforts and strategies.
- Overseeing the recruitment, appointment, review, and professional development of the faculty.
- Working with the College Director to maintain and cultivate relationships with the alumni and friends of the college in order to secure referral initiatives.
- Assure ongoing quality and continuous improvement in the college’s academic program array at both the diploma, certification and partnership level, and in both traditional and online programs.
- Work collegially and collaboratively with leadership across the campus to support the priorities of the campus.
- Foster and support relationships with the provincial and regional business community, encouraging and supporting business and economic outreach activities and fostering collaboration among the outreach units.
- Provide leadership to initiatives that foster and enhance inclusive excellence and multicultural and global competence in the college.
- Other duties as assigned.
