**Position Summary**:
We are looking for a Safety & Health Specialist for Sterling Road Factory based in Toronto. The incumbent will develop & implement the Project (Flower) Safety and Health Management Plan and monitor its implementation in order to deliver on Project/Site SHE Objectives throughout the life of the project. Identify & anticipate risks/hazards that are likely to happen and put in place precautions/safe ways of working that will avoid, prevent or manage the related risks. Develop standards and train employees/SMEs/contractors. Create safety zones & enforce safe ways of working though coaching, work site visits/audits to ensure full compliance. Work with cross-functional teams to observe, inspect and correct workplace conditions and ensure people work in accordance with regulatory and Nestle Standards.

**A day in the life of a Safety & Health Specialist**:
As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will:

- Develop the Project Safety and Health Management plan and monitor its implementation
- Identify the hazards that will likely be present at the Project site and set out precautions to be put in place to avoid, prevent, or manage the related risks.
- Ensure designers/contractors have appropriate Safety & Health qualifications (GC selection/ISN compliance and maintenance).
- Carry out design reviews (URS input/zero access guarding) to ensure that Safety & Health is integrated into workplace design and construction planning.
- Develop and implement a Construction & Installation Safety & Health plan that addresses all the S&H requirements related to the site installation, training, site rules, Permit To Work system (issue/close permits & train SMEs), processes for monitoring & Improving S&H performance (FHFs integration into factory system), emergency response and incident reporting processes.
- Identity Safety & Health risks, and maintain a S&H risk register, throughout the project to support project decisions, establishing safe work zones during project.
- Ensure that S&H risks to workers are assessed and managed and that safe systems of work are developed and implemented, (safe movement of materials).
- Ensure all workers are submitted to a general as well as a specific S&H training and qualification according to risks and compliance requirements.
- On Operations projects, develop and implement a Safety & Health acceptance plan that includes the Pre-Start up Safety Reviews/line inspections, Safety & Health Line Release, Factory Acceptance Test and the Site Acceptance Test.
- As part of the handover, have formal safety sign off from Project Manager to Factory/ Site Management before/ as part of the qualification for the new installation.
- Safety and health documentation (SHE standards/LOTO/Maps) should be completed and handed over to operations.
- Operations employees (operators/mechanics) should be trained to be competent to operate, clean and maintain the new installation safely (LOTO/Mode 4s etc).
- Implement operational reviews to coordinate Safety & Health activities and

monitor S&H performance based on leading and lagging measures.
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits (Toolbox talks/Support/work permits) monitor compliance with S&H requirements and standards of risk management.

**What will make you successful?**

You will also have:

- Minimum 5 years practical experienced in industrial & Construction safety (managing safety issues at a facility/local level).
- Minimum 3 years practical experience of local S&H priorities, eg. forklift safety, machinery safety, ergonomics, health, contractor management, incident investigation
- Practical experience of local environmental priorities, eg management of energy/carbon, water and waste
- Demonstrated leadership capability in an operational environment.
- Implementation of improvements through influencing others.
- Working in, and leading, cross-functional teams.
- Leading major change to improve performance in different Safety areas.
- Application of Nestlé Safety management tools, eg NEST, various scorecards, Leadership Basic Behaviours, BBS, SHE-PM, ISO 45001, etc
- Leveraging TPM and LEAN to drive Safety improvements.
