**Working for the School of Business**

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Manager, Teaching and Learning, the Indigenous Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a positive, holistic student experience for Indigenous students in the Alberta School of Business. The Indigenous Program Coordinator will coordinate and administer supports for enrolled and prospective Indigenous students and act as a key advisor for the School’s strategic planning for Indigenous activities.

**Duties**
- Recruitment_
- Develop a diverse qualifications admissions pathway for prospective students.
- Develop bridging opportunities for prospective students to upskill/upgrade their foundational skills.
- Participate in the campus Indigenous Recruitment Circle.
- Promotes the School’s programs through recruitment activities and student orientation programs.
- Visit communities and schools of interest and promote the School’s programs.
- Student Supports_
- Plans, coordinates, and implements Indigenous student support programs and events across the faculty that are responsive to the unique needs of Indigenous students.
- Provides an initial advising function for Indigenous students in the School, assessing their needs and referring them as appropriate.
- Collaborates within the School and University to promote the success of Indigenous students.
- Advises students about University and School policies and procedures to provide accurate information to assist students in making decisions.
- Assesses situations and identifies at-risk-students, referring students as appropriate.
- Work with the Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD program offices to understand and develop unique programming for the varying needs of each group of students.
- Work with the Careers and Work Integrated Learning office to identify work experiences opportunities and supports for Indigenous students.
- Engage with Indigenous alumni to assist with employment transitions.
- Engage applicable student groups to collaborate on activities and provide supports.
- Strategic Advising_
- Advise on the development and implementation of a strategy for the School’s Indigenous activities.
- Participate in School committees, including the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
- Respectfully facilitate connections between the School and Indigenous communities.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in a related field is required (i.e. Business, Education, Native Studies, etc.)
- 3-4 years of related experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Efficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Highly motivated, ability to work independently; proactive self-starter
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills as needed to support the organization and the role
- Thorough understanding of the reality experience by Indigenous business students
- Deep personal experience with indigenous cultures, communities, protocols, practices, and ways of knowing
- Experience in Indigenous consultation and engagement
- Experience in counselling and mentoring students
- Ability to work well under pressure, handling large volumes of work at times throughout the year and the ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality and accuracy of work
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality when working with highly sensitive information
- Outstanding project management skills, including managing
