**MATERNITY LEAVE POSITION**

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to fill in for a Maternity Leave for a minimum of one year. The right canditate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, including account reconciliations and analyses. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to both improve upon current processes as well as create new processes and reporting for the business.

**What You'll be Doing**:
Accurately review and enter invoices on a timely basis
- Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct any discrepancies
- Process multiple cheque runs a month
- Prepare general journal entries including payroll reallocations and month end accruals
- Monthly bank account reconciliations
- Scanning and saving accounting documents
- Assist with various accounting projects as needed
- Reports to the Controller
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts
- Suggest ways to improve processes, efficiencies, and spending
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
- General support and working with the accounting team
- Other duties and special projects as assigned

**What You Bring**
- Detail-oriented, high degree of accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency
- Experience with full-cycle financial accounting
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and able to identify unusual entries, discrepancies or problems, and resolve independently
- Hands-on experience with various accounting software packages
- Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, with a passion for making continuous improvements

SKILLS:

- 3-5 years of related work experience
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and able to work effectively as a team player
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience with accounting systems
- Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 52 weeks

**Salary**: $35,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
