**Accounting Specialist**

**40 hours/week**

**Waterloo Office**

The Accounting Specialist performs responsible and technical accounting procedures involving statistical and financial records. They perform functions of Actual/Budget functions to analyze and allocate expenses and revenues for Karis Disability Services on a timely basis. The Accounting Specialist ensures adherence to Ministry, legal requirements and auditing standards. They make monthly journal entries, accounting corrections and analyzes key accounts.

**Responsibilities**:

- ** **Prepare and review A/P and A/R adjustments and post to sub ledgers.
- Analyze, correct errors, and post G/L entries.
- Complete Central Allocated Administration calculation and entries.
- Complete invoicing and post to sub ledger.
- Print Revenue Determination Worksheets and complete entries for provincial subsidy claims.
- Post all retrieved sub ledger and journal entries to the General Ledger prior to _Monthly Financial Statements_.
- Complete system integrity checks and reports.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Analyze balance sheets and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Analyze and verify all A/R and A/P lead sheet balances.
- Track Provincial Subsidies actuals.
- Assist with preparation of Financial Statements and Miscellaneous Account Management reports.
- Allocate monies received and post to appropriate sub ledger.
- Balance cash receipts with daily bank deposits.
- Process invoicing for Provincial Subsidies.
- Invoice internal and external agencies for services provided by Karis Disability Services.
- Process rent charges for supported individuals.
- Analyze records for supported individuals and follow-up with invoices to parents/advocates.
- Complete analysis and calculations of budget line change requests.
- Obtain approvals and make data entries and postings.

**Requirements**:

- 3 years of previous working experience in Accounting
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Accounting
- A/R and A/P procedures
- Computer skills in accounting programs
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
