The Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction, including the development, implementation, monitoring, and compliance to policy, legislation and standards, for addiction and mental health services, as well as proactive monitoring of substance use and mental health data to support system planning. The Ministry works with service providers and community partners to design and enhance a coordinated community-based addiction and mental health care system, leveraging policy and practice innovations and research and evaluation to enable the best possible outcomes for Albertans. The Ministry works closely with other cross-ministry partners, external organizations, other Canadian provinces and the Government of Canada to plan addiction and mental health service delivery. The Ministry also liaises with the Office of the Alberta Health Advocates and Alberta Health Services.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance and Monitoring, you will be part of the regulatory team responsible for the licensing of service providers and monitoring compliance to the Mental Health Services Protection Act (MHSPA), the Mental Health Services Protection Regulation (MHSPR) and all associated standards.

The main function of this position involves inspecting and investigating service providers of complex addiction and mental health services including residential addiction treatment services, narcotic transition services, supervised consumption services, psychedelic drug treatment services and medically supported withdrawal services. AMHCOs are also responsible for the management and follow up of all critical incidents reported to the ministry, in all service provider locations across the province.

You will provide leadership in education, quality assurance, risk management practices both internally, and externally to ensure the safety of patients and clients at in scope locations. Travel is required.

**Qualifications**:
University degree in science (health discipline) or a related field and four (4) years of related experience. Direct experience working in addiction or mental health settings will be considered an asset.
