**Role Responsibilities**:
The Manager of Trade Data Assessment is a member of the Trade Policy and Competetiveness branch in the International Trade division. The Manager leads a new unit that will focus on using trade data and international market analysis to assess Alberta’s trade priorities and competitiveness.

The Manager is responsible for building and leading a team of trade analysts in the generation, synthesis and dissemination of analytic evidence to support division and Ministry decision making. Working with a team of experts in quantitative methodologies, the Manager will be responsible for:

- building a team focused on assessing international trade data to support the needs of the Ministry;
- developing and assigning analytic projects that advance international trade priorities and are directly relevant to program and executive decision makers;
- investigating and designing innovative quantitative methodologies to address complex research questions; identifying key data sources relevant to international trade assessment and market analysis;
- leading the Trade Data Assessment team in developing standards for producing data-driven deliverables and assessing new and emerging technologies for use in work
- translating analytic findings and communicating effectively to ministry decision makers; and
- disseminating these findings and clearly communicating through presentations, briefing notes, reports, etc.

In addition, the Manager provides forward-looking, data-informed input to shape policy and program decisions, integrating awareness of the global research landscape on trends, risks and opportunities related to international trade and support for Alberta companies. The Manager leads the Trade Assessment team to ensure data collection and analysis is reliable, reproducible, and auditable.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in Business, Economics or Statistics or in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
