As an
**Accreditation Assessment Officer**, you will work as part of the Accreditation team and be responsible for assessing the performance of diagnostic facilities (Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging) within Alberta using CPSA approved standards. You will be responsible for the pre-assessment, on-site, and post-assessment activities in accordance with standardized CPSA policies and procedures. Provincial travel is required for conducting on-site assessments to evaluate the performance of diagnostic facilities within Alberta.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- ** Through on-site assessments, write assessment reports identifying best practices evidenced, recommendations for improvement, and follow-up actions to address non-conformance including**:

- Assess performance of diagnostic facilities for the purpose of accreditation and reviewing facility's scope of practice.
- Organize and plan travel logistics of spring/fall assessment cycle.
- Recruit additional external assessors as required.
- Organize facility documentation for preparation of desk audit.
- Review and evaluate desktop audit submissions prior to on-site assessments, coordinate all assessment logistics, and communicate with appropriate personnel.
- Prepare initial assessment reports for Program Manager review.
- Review facility response submissions to assessment reports, evaluate responses, and follow-up if required.
- Inform Program manager of any safety, quality, or risk issues pertaining to accreditation assessment exercises.
- **
Upon completion of initial assessment, follow-up and coordinate to ensure site addresses noted compliance issues**:

- Initiate and track all activities of annual diagnostic facility/group/zone/sector accreditation assessments.
- Liaise with accredited facility staff and ad-hoc assessors to provide information and instruction on diagnostic facility accreditation.
- Provide education and share best practices for the purposes of quality and safety improvement.
- Work with Accreditation Assistant on accreditation assessment activities and support fellow Assessment Officers and Assessors as required.

- Ensure applicable facility accreditation assessment tracking systems are current, accurate, and reliable.
- Assist with maintenance of facility profiles, contact lists, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**:

- Successful completion of a recognized diploma in Combined Laboratory & X-Ray Technology (CLXT), or Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT), or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT).
- Current certification from the appropriate Alberta regulatory body.

**Experience**:

- Requirement for 3 to 5 years of experience in an urban and/or rural diagnostic facility.
- Previous experience in conducting internal audits and/or risk management processes is an asset.
- Lead role experience in the performance of quality control and quality assurance is an asset.
- Previous experience as an accreditation assessor or organizing/planning for an accreditation assessment is an asset.

**Skills**:

- Technical expertise and knowledge in the laboratory and/or diagnostic imaging environment.
- Understand and assess the provision of diagnostic health services as it relates to standards compliance and evaluate and assess compliance.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong understanding of principles of fairness, impartiality, and objectivity.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Access), Adobe products, and SharePoint.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, time management and interviewing skills.
- Professional and business-like manner.
- Adaptable and flexible approach, ability to multi-task, and highly self-directed.
- Able to perform as part of a team or as an individual.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet vehicular insurance requirements.

**SALARY**
The salary for this position is $91,868 and includes a comprehensive benefit package and pension plan.
