**Qualifications**- Commitment to the mission and principles of Mennonite Central Committee
- Post-secondary studies in business management or a combination of education and retail/thrift shop experience
- Demonstrated ability to train, coordinate, supervise and motivate staff and volunteers, and create a positive environment that promotes teamwork and cooperation
- Knowledge of the second-hand merchandise market preferred
- Basic ability to assess quality of clothing, housewares, and furniture
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt in a dynamic work environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of individuals, including those who represent a diverse and / or marginalized population
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
- Conflict management / mediation skills
- Possess an understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Commitment to follow and ensure safe work practices
- Experience in using Facebook and Instagram for marketing an asset
- Aptitude for numbers and operating sales equipment (cash register, credit card machines)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (abstract)
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Current First Aid Training Certification (may be provided in first three months of employment)

**Job Synopsis**
- As the Assistant Manager, you will provide hands-on support for the daily operations of the MCC Mission Thrift Shop including, the receiving of donations, sorting/pricing, and the retail floor. You will provide administrative and general support to the Shop Manager in relation to workplace safety, supervising staff and volunteers, and filling in for the Shop Manager when needed. As a key member of the Volunteer Committee, you are expected to support the Shop Manager in providing vision and direction for the overall operation of the Thrift Shop, including the development of a business plan, strategic and operational plans, and sales goals that will meet net revenue targets. You are expected to collaborate and partner with the MCC Centre Thrift and MCC Clothing Etc. Thrift Shops to optimize the sharing of donations and building a strong relationship between the two locations. You will work with volunteers, customers, employees, and donors in a manner that reflects Christian integrity, exemplifying the beliefs, values, and mission of Mennonite Central Committee in the workplace. You will live out your faith serving others and advancing the mission of MCC.
This is a full-time salaried position (40 hours per week) requiring availability for Tuesday to Saturday. General operating hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This position reports to the Shop Manager.
