The Manager of Community Outreach plans and oversees the day-to-day operations of the outreach, harm reduction, and food centre programs and is accountable for program management, facilities management of outreach sites, financial management of approved program budgets, human resource management, case management, community relations, and program quality assurance.

**What you’ll do**
- Ensure that the operations of MCSS Programs achieve a consistent high quality of service, programing, accountability, security, and infrastructure that meets and exceeds requirements and expectations of the Operating Agreement with BC Housing, Fraser Health, and MCSS’s policies, procedures, and organizational mandate.
- Recommend changes to policy and procedures as needed in coordination with the management team for the operation of the food centre, harm reduction, and outreach programs.
- Oversee annual Christmas Bureau operations in collaboration with Community Resources team.
- Identify, monitor, and respond to problematic behaviours to ensure physical and psychological safety for both staff and clients.
- Assist in preparation of budgets and work scope in coordination with the Director of Programs for contracted activities.
- Promote a workplace culture that motivates and inspires clients affected by social marginalization due to problematic substance use, homelessness, emotional and mental health issues, unemployment, lack of education and involvement with the criminal justice system to achieve stability and success in the areas of housing, income, employment, and quality of life.
- Establish a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Interview and select staff with the technical skills and abilities to help further the organization's mission.
- Ensure that all staff receive an orientation to the organization and to the Outreach Program and that appropriate training is provided to ensure required performance of their duties.
- Plan for staff development and monitoring on an ongoing basis.
- Compile documentation for payroll as required, including approval of timesheets and time off requests.
- Lead and direct staff in developing positive collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Effectively promote the Society’s Outreach programs and the organization’s integrated services.
- Promote effective liaison activities with the community in a professional manner and encourage community involvement in the program.
- Represent the Society in the community through effective interaction with all stakeholders (e.g., BC Housing, Fraser Health, BC Corrections Branch, etc.), human service and health service agencies, government, media, neighbours, and the public.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of social, economic, recreational, and educational resources in the community.

**What you bring**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services in a relevant field of study, plus a minimum 5 years' experience in a human service supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and experience.
- Experience in working with marginalized people affected by problematic substance use, homelessness, emotional and mental health issues, unemployment, lack of education and/or involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated teamwork and team building skills.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Experience in providing a person centered, community minded supportive environment.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check is required.
- Certification in First Aid and MANDT or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance

**Salary**: $85,000.00 per year
