Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a
- **Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist (2nd shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM)**.- The Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist supports production activities ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards and industry best practices.

**Qualifications***:

- Education:

- OHS Diploma or certification required
- Ability to obtain CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation.
- Ability to obtain National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
- Post-Secondary degree in Safety would be considered an asset
- 3-5 years of applicable safety experience in an industrial environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of the NS HSE Act and Regulations
- Experience working in confined spaces is considered an asset
- Ability to facilitate training and conduct effective presentations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Safety coaching for all personnel, including sub-contractors
- Remain a consistent positive role model with focus on continual professional development and maintenance of competency of all Advisors
- Conduct safety investigation and participate in incident investigations and JOHSC meetings
- Conduct new hire orientations for employees
- Assist in the development of training programs to support employee training and development
- Conduct focus inspections across all departments and facilities I.e paint booth, PPE, ventilation
- Complete reviews of HSE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable provincial regulations and CSA standards.
- Facilitate Risk Assessments with Hazard Owner(s)
