**The Opportunity**: Reporting to the Site Leader, the Operations Leader provides leadership for the effective operations of the Winnipeg - Lagimodiere plant by ensuring the development and implementation of best-in-class manufacturing processes, adherence to good manufacturing practices and supply chain management.

This position is responsible for ensuring superior customer satisfaction in an environment that meets our commitments to our human resources, health & safety and food safety standards, and is responsible for the direct oversight and leadership of the Production Managers and Materials Leader within the facility.

**Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life**:

- Provide operational and strategic decision making to support the Site Leader.
- Be accountable for production costs, labour utilization, yields, results of operations and cost improvements in the department.
- Ensure adherence to the Company’s Food Safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices, including the completion of BRC and audit targets.
- Strive to continuously improve the reduction of operating costs using Six Sigma methodology.
- Develop, recommend, and implement Capital Improvement for plant, including the preparation and execution of a Capital Plant budget.
- Responsible for preparing and executing the plant operational overhead budget, and direct product cost targets.
- Meet or exceed customer service level targets through the synchronization of process/activities with all functional area processes, from demand planning through to the delivery to the customer.
- Develops salaried employees through certification training and coaching, providing clear roles and consistent support and feedback for all employees.
- Develops a cohesive, competent leadership group and plans for development and succession planning.
- Optimize and ensure execution of weekly and monthly production schedules.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve manufacturing operational results and efficiencies while meeting customer expectations and minimizing waste.
- Foster and maintain positive union and employee relations environment by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution.
- Holds employees accountable and drives performance through key metrics that are tied back to the vision.
- Shall demonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management.
- Develops and drives a strong safety culture (H&S and Food Safety).
- Supports Marketing/Sales and Product Development with respect to new and existing product development initiatives and customer inquiries.

**What You’ll Bring**:

- Post-secondary education in one of the following disciplines: food science, business, engineering, or operations management.
- Several years of production experience in a food processing industry.
- A minimum of 5 years demonstrated and progressive experience in a management role within a unionized work environment.
- Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team with all functional areas to support a common goal.
- Experience in a project-based manufacturing environment with a proven record of delivering bottom line results.
- An understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Demonstrated customer focus to ensure a loyal customer base.
- Demonstrated track record of decision making using various analytical tools (SAP, variance reports, downtime analysis, SWOT analysis, Six Sigma metrics, etc.)
