The Office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost (VPAC) is responsible for leading the academic mission of the university. Representing nearly 80 per cent of the university, VPAC supports all faculty, librarians, academic staff and students through leadership, training, resources, supports and services. VPAC oversees the general supervision of academic programs, long-range academic planning, faculty recruitment, retention and success, and student recruitment, retention and success. To ensure the academic and research mission of the university is central to decision making, the Provost leads the university’s integrated budget process.

Units that report to VPAC include all Faculties, University Libraries, Student Affairs, Division of Continuing Studies, Cooperative Education and Career Services, Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation, and Institutional Planning and Analysis. The core unit in the VPAC Office is a collaborative team that works together to advance institutional priorities, projects and initiatives under the leadership of the Director, the Associate Vice-Presidents, the Deputy Provost and the Vice President.

**The salary range for this position is**:

- **Recruitment range: $98,387 - $122,854** maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
- **Performance range: starting salary to max of $141,203** is available through annual performance increases.
- Job Summary

**Mandate**
The Faculty Relations Consultant is central to the University of Victoria’s efforts to maintain and enhance its academic workforce. This role ensures the institution remains an attractive and supportive environment for faculty, librarians, and academic administrators. The consultant provides expert advice and strategic solutions to complex HR issues, including labor relations, compliance, and faculty development.

The position works independently and is responsible for the development and cultivation of productive relationships to support the university’s people strategy and build an inclusive campus community. This position works as part of a team that incudes other professionals working together to support the mission and mandate of the Office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost. The position will work collaboratively with the team to provide back-up and coverage during vacations and absences.

- Labor Relations and Compliance: Ensures adherence to collective agreements and legal requirements, managing risks and fostering positive labor relations.
- Faculty Development: Develops and implements initiatives that promote professional growth and support the university’s mission of inclusion and excellence in academia.
- Operational Excellence: Optimizes HR processes and policies to support efficient and effective academic administration.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of project milestones and high-quality outcomes for short-term, medium-term and annual projects
