**About Us**:
The federal government has announced a follow up contribution agreement with the government of Alberta to provide $53 Million over a 5 year period (2023-2028) to fund programs and initiatives that will combat gun and gang violence in Alberta.

**Role**:
As the Guns and Gangs Program Coordinator, you will serve as a key resource in the ministry responsible for developing and managing programs and services that are funded by the federal Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund (GGVAF). As the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for several key tasks and duties not only at the development stage but throughout the term of the contribution agreement.

Your tasks and duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Project development and management;
- Conducting research on best practices to combat gun and gang violence and making recommendations in regards to programs and initiatives to be undertaken.
- Arranging and providing secretarial support and sometimes leading engagement activities, such as meetings with governmental and non-governmental officials, working groups and committees.
- Preparing professional correspondences for internal and external stakeholders (i.e. - Briefing Notes, Input documents, Letters, Memo's, Subsidiary Agreements and Memorandum of Understandings).
- Creating and maintaining strong relationships with senior level government staff and external stakeholders.
- Working with internal government departments to effect procurement of financial processes to support GGVAF initiatives and programs (contract and grant processes).
- Required to work with Financial Operations to conduct forecasting and track/report on expenditures associated to the federal Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund (GGVAF).

This position requires a significant degree of independence, as you will be responsible for leading, directing and following up on tasks associated to the GGVAF.
You must also exercise judgment when collecting, analyzing and summarizing information for research, program development and reporting. You will regularly contribute insights and experiences to colleagues in the ministry to help achieve quality results, and negotiate between stakeholder needs and use of best practice for determining program direction, measurement and indicator development, and results generation.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related field such as Public Administration or Social Sciences plus at least 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

The following are considered assets:

- Project Management Designation
- Experience working with project management software systems;
- Familiarity with financial accounting concepts (such as; general ledger, assets, revenue, expenses, or liabilities) and procurement (such as; grant and contract processes);
- Working Knowledge of research and analysis methodologies;
- Working Knowledge of crime trends and how the criminal justice system is structured and operates;
- Experience with preparation of professional correspondence, briefing materials and other written forms of communication.

Equivalency: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
