JOB SUMMARY:
The Black Youth Visionary Program Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and administration of the Black Youth Visionary Program, which seeks to engage Black youth in post-secondary education by increasing awareness and engagement in wrap-around supports at Ontario Tech University. The coordinator will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including event planning, outreach, and participant engagement, focusing on youth in Grades 6 to 12 and post-secondary students.

This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the program's success and will contribute to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages student success and community engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engagement and Outreach:

- Assist with outreach efforts to recruit and engage Black-identifying youth
- Collaborate with the Manager and campus partners to develop promotional materials
- Organize, develop content, and deliver outreach activities
- Create and maintain spaces that foster a sense of belonging and community among Black students. This includes events, discussion forums, and networking opportunities.

Program Coordination and Administration:

- Liase with participants, program partners, and community members to ensure program success and growth
- Support planning, coordination and execution of program events and activities
- Coordinate and manage communication with program participants, campus partners and external stakeholders
- Maintain participant records and program impact and outcome reports
- Develop and deliver training materials and workshops for student positions
- Assists in the recruitment, selection and training of work study students and volunteers, coordinating day to day workflow.

Event Planning and Logistics:

- Oversee event logistics, including scheduling, participant registration, volunteers and venue arrangements
- Collaborate with external partners to meet program objectives and secure event resources
- Develop assessment strategies and reports for program improvement

Administrative Support:

- Develop and manage records, data and reports for all related programs, participant demographics and events
- Support budget and financial administration of the program
- Maintain program’s online presence by providing content for social media.
- All other related duties as assigned.

**Required Skills**:

- ** **Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with mínimal supervision.
- Strong event planning and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Serve as a positive role model for youth in Black communities.

**Required Education:
- Completion of a university program consisting of four academic years, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field preferred
- Verification of Academic credentials may be required

**Required Experience:
- Over 1 year and including 3 years
- Has lived experience as a Black person and has a strong connection with Black communities
- Related experience working in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives or community engagement is an asset

**Knowledge**:

- ** **Demonstrated understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by Black youth and their communities, with experience working in or with Black communities being highly valued.
- Demonstrated understanding of equity, accessibility, intersectionality, anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion, particularly as relates to education
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of systemic barriers and experiences of members of equity-deserving groups
- Working knowledge of community outreach and student recruitment
