**_Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP) _**_located in St. Marys, Ontario, is the largest Veterinary Supplier in Ontario with annual revenues over $500 million and is currently looking to add a dynamic individual within our Finance department for the full-time position of:_

**Financial Controller**
- This individual will be responsible for analyzing and establishing accounting programs. You must have advanced MS Excel skills, with a focus on high quality and delivery of results. Strong attention to detail with service first mentality. Proactive solutions-oriented problem-solving skills, with strong business acumen.**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Supervising, coaching and mentoring finance and administrative staff members
- Accounts Payable - approve expenditures, maximize discounts taken, authorize EFT payments
- Accounts Receivable - review of daily deposits and aging reports, as well as assist with collection of outstanding accounts
- Pricing - supervise pricing clerk while ensuring standard cost is accurate and analyze sales margin by product classification
- Assist with month end closing by approving and entering journal entries
- Budgeting and forecasting
- General ledger account reconciliations
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information
- Prepare monthly financial statements for review and approval by Senior Finance Manager
- Assist with year-end audit by preparing working papers for external auditors
- Prepare government filings and remittances / Annual reconciliations of EHT and WSIB
- Monthly bank reconciliation of multiple accounts - daily monitoring of account balances.
- Manage foreign exchange transactions
- With input from the Senior Finance Manager, development and implementation of internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures.
- Co-ordination of government audits
- Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis and reporting
- Other related duties as required or assigned

Health & Safety
- Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Conducts self with regard for safety of employees; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures
- Report any health & safety violations or hazards to your supervisor

Good manufacturing practices:

- Follow and understand all relevant Standard Operating Procedures with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices

Skills and knowledge required:

- University degree in Business/Accounting
- Progressing towards or already designated as CPA
- Minimum five years accounting experience which includes some supervision
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset
- Ability to adapt and learn new software
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Financial analysis, budgeting and some strategic planning experience

**Schedule**:Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm (onsite)
