The Cool Aid Community Health Centre is a medical home to over 7,000 clients, primarily those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, infectious disease, problematic substance use and chronic illnesses.

The MOA is often the first individual to interact with clients and as such it is essential that they communicate with clients from a trauma-informed perspective, possess conflict management/descalation skills and understands when to seek further support from other team members. The Medical Office Assistant will be a valued part of a dynamic team that is passionate about making a difference in the community.

A snapshot of the responsibilities for the Medical Office Assistant position are as follows:

- Responsible for smooth operation of the reception area.
- Provide administrative support to team members.
- Triage and monitor patient flow.
- Answer and direct incoming calls from patients, medical professionals, pharmacies, members of the public, other Cool Aid programs, etc.
- Book follow-up appointments, fax lab requisitions, fax and mail triplicate prescriptions
- Maintain medical information in patient's electronic medical records, scans, and link documents.
- Clean and/or sterilize medical instruments, equipment, and medical areas.

The successful applicant will have the ability to organize work, manage time and carry out the duties of the position with independence. In addition, they will have experience in clinical or other settings that include clients who come from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds all while maintaining sensitivity towards the needs of all patients.

***Qualifications**
- Completion of Grade 12 plus one year of related training.
- Ability to manage both paper and electronic information effectively and communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Comfortable using computers and related programs such as Microsoft Work, Excel, etc.
- Experience that includes:

- Familiarity with the CHR Medical System, medical terminology, billing, Teleplan.
- Preparation of documents and reports. Ability to type 60 words per minute is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to function and work cooperatively with health professionals, as a member of an interdisciplinary team and with members of the community.

**Requirements**:

- Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

**Job Information**
- **Hourly Wage Rate **$27.36
- ** Work Location **713 Johnson Street** **-** **Community Health Centre
- **Workdays **Monday - Friday, with the potential for some Saturdays.
- **Shift Times** Days and some evenings.
- **Weekly Hours **40** **hours per week.
- **Union **Exempt.
- **Benefits **Eligible for 100% employer paid benefits including pension, health, and dental care as well as access to our employee assistance program, Employees receive paid sick time, and three weeks of vacation.
