**Position Description**:

Salary Range:
- $39.00 to $46.57 Hourly
**Summary of Responsibilities**:
- The Institute for Mental Health Research (IMHR) at The Royal Ottawa Hospital specializes in mental health research across a variety of areas including mood disorders, suicide prevention, sleep disorders, schizophrenia, stress and trauma, and youth mental health. The Royal’s Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) is a state-of-the art research facility featuring a PET/MRI scanner, the first of its kind in Canada dedicated solely to support mental health research.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Must have the ability to carry out all major responsibilities as outlined below:
- ** Development & Implementation** (**10**0**%)**:
- Develop high-performance infrastructure and research informatics services in a medical-research environment.
- Implement and deploy research infrastructure, including maintenance, life cycle management and developing related documentation.
- Ensure robust and stable operations including redundancies, load-balancing and ‘no single point of failure’.
- Implement data access, permissions, firewalls, anti-virus solutions and roles to ensure compliance with privacy and research ethics across services.
- Work with Cardio-Neuroinformatics stakeholders to build services and implement integrative technologies.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Health Records, Neuroscience, Information Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting research informatics infrastructure and services.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with troubleshooting and demonstrated increase of responsibilities over time.
- 3+ years of experience working in an active research environment and experience in data management, technology setting.
- Experience with High Performance Storage, Research Data Management Platforms (XNAT, LabKey, REDCap), Research Software (SAS, Matlab) and High-Throughput networks.
- Strong experience with storage protocols, NFS, SMB, HDFS, iSCSI
- Strong experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, administration and support
- Strong experience with Linux/Windows interfaces/integration
- Strong experience with virtualization (specifically VMWare) and VM management
- Strong experience with database management (postgresql, DB2, mariaDB, HIVE, InfluxDB, MySQL)
- Strong knowledge of informatics infrastructure, data management, permissions management and privacy considerations.
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and network principles
- Expertise working with versioning control systems, package management software and software development life cycles.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; balancing strategic alignment with technology roadmap and emerging industry trends with practical delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with research faculty, students, and staff in a team environment.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Exposure to mental health and cardiac research
- Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills
- Highly self-motivated and directed personal attributes
- Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset
