**SUMMARY**
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for procurement activities, including vendor relationship management, contract management, purchase order issuance and procurement compliance oversight.
This role ensures BCFSA achieves the best value in purchasing goods and services under a specific threshold in accordance with BCFSA’s procurement policies, procedures and industry best practices, contributing to the organization’s mission to promote confidence in British Columbia's financial services sector by providing risk-based and proportional regulation and protecting the public.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Engages with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs and specifications.
- Research suppliers for goods and services, evaluates alternatives to determine what options best meet the organization’s needs.
- Issues purchase orders and supply contracts in accordance with BCFSA’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Negotiates best pricing, terms, and delivery options for each purchase.
- Tracks order progress from placement through to delivery.
- Resolves issues associated with order discrepancy, and product or service quality.
- Communicate with stakeholders and convey procurement policies and procedures to stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
- Works collaboratively with stakeholders during the planning, contract execution and vendor evaluation phases to accurately understand and meet their procurement needs.
- Identifies and implements best practices in procurement processes, contributing to ongoing improvement and efficiency of BCFSA’s procurement processes.
- Drives the adoption of strategies and best practices that enhance the effectiveness procurement function as the decision maker. Open to use new technologies and methodologies to foster a culture of continuous improvement (e.g. Kaizen, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management)
- Promotes fair and transparent procurement practices, maintains confidentiality, and avoids conflicts of interest to uphold the integrity of the supply chain processes.
- Assesses and manages risks associated with procurement activities, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience with ERP software, particularly in procurement modules, is highly desirable.
