**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) is a senior HR professional, who is an integral part of the Chief Leadership Team (CLT) and strategically leads and directs the Human Resources (HR) and Learning & Development (L&D) teams. The CPCO will play a pivotal role in developing strategic initiatives, shaping our short
- and long-term people strategy, leading cultural transformation, and ensuring our values are embedded in every aspect of our business. In addition to driving employee engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, talent development, and organizational growth, the CPCO provides expert HR advice as well as leadership regarding the support services of YNCU. The CPCO will demonstrate superior leadership and is a role model for not only their team, but also the corporate wide staff complement.

The mandate of this role will likely expand over time.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Leadership and Strategy**:

- Actively and collaboratively participate in YNCU’s strategic planning process with the CLT and YNCU’s Board of Directors and work closely with peers to develop and implement long and short-term plans to bring the Strategic Plans to life. Be an advocate for internal culture, best practices, new initiatives, and transformation
- Key strategic advisor to the CEO and CLT in all areas of human resources including but not limited to, organizational development, planning, short
- and long-term strategies, culture, coaching, performance, policies, recruitment, training, compensation, labour and employee relations, employment law, human resources practices, etc.
- Strategically lead overall human resources planning by designing and developing short and long-term human resources strategies and developing the Human Resources Business Plan that aligns with the human resources requirements of YNCU’s Strategic Plan and business objectives
- Develop and implement HR policies, operating procedures and programs while ensuring compliance with HR laws, best practices and reporting requirements. Lead ongoing reviews of same to keep the organization appraised of best practices, new trends or developments and confirm legislative compliance
- Provide sound advice on the interpretation and administration of the collective agreements, workplace policies & procedures, and share knowledge appropriately on applicable legislation including but not limited to the ESA, LRA, Ontario Human Rights Code, OH&S Act, and AODA
- Advise management by providing guidance, advice and coaching on sensitive, confidential and/or complex HR matters
- Prepare HR budget for approval, monitor and take action to ensure prudent financial management for assigned areas of authority
- Formulate, recommend and spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the work environment, organizational culture and employee engagement levels
- Formulate, recommend, implement and maintain HR strategies, plans and objectives to ensure HR plans and strategies such as succession planning and talent management, as well as short-term operational plans

**Talent Management**:

- Direct compensation, pension and benefits programs that are internally equitable, externally competitive and in accordance with policy and legislative requirements
- Develop, recommend and provide oversight to performance management processes to facilitate optimum employee performance, monitoring, feedback, coaching, evaluation and employee development
- Lead talent management programs to support a culture of continuous learning that enhances the organization’s objectives and employee skills and abilities
- Direct and lead the Learning and Development (L&D) Team to achieve the learning and development requirements of YNCU’s Strategic Plan and business objectives
- Provide direction, guidance and oversight in the development, design and implementation of talent management program strategies to support various YNCU business operational needs and initiatives
