How Anesthesia Assistant support our teams at Grand River Hospital:
Anesthesia Assistant are responsible for the provision of respiratory care as established by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and the standards of the hospital.Participates in the care of the stable surgical patient during general, regional or local anesthesia under the clinical direction of the Chief of Anesthesia.In additional to providing technical support for the anesthesiologist for complex anesthesia equipment, they administer anesthetic gases and medications, perform conscious sedation, and are responsible for insertion and monitoring of intravenous and arterial lines.Provides constant assessment and evaluative monitoring of the depth of anesthesia all under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and with the use of medical directives, as applicable. Also an integral member of the Allied Health team to which there are accountabilities for professional practice, education and research.At Grand River Hospital, the Anesthesia Assistant: Completion of (or current enrollment in) an accredited Anesthesia Assistant (AA) Program is requiredAt Grand River Hospital we support our Team Members with:
