**about the role**:
This position will be responsible for participating in the planning, development, evaluation, and facilitation of group programming for 2SLGBTQ communities, and taking a lead in outreach of promotion to recruit participants. The Health Promoter works to enhance the health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ communities, specifically parents of 2SLGBTQ youth and their children. The scope of this mandate is to establish and implement a Trans and Non-Binary (TNB) Youth Support Program, aimed at providing resources, and coping strategies to establish positive relationship to trans and non-binary youth between the ages of 14 and 24, as well as their parents. The Health Promoter will support with outreach activities and conduct intake to attract suitable service users for the Leveling Mind program.

**scope of the mandate**:
The Health Promoter works to enhance the health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ communities, specifically parents of 2SLGBTQ youth and their children. The scope of this mandate is to establish and implement a Trans and Non-Binary (TNB) Youth Support Program, aimed at providing resources and coping strategies to foster positive relationships with trans and non-binary youth between the ages of 14 and 24, as well as their parents. The Health Promoter will support outreach activities and conduct intake to attract suitable service users for the Leveling Mind program.

Activities may take place at the individual, community or policy level with the aim of increasing access to equitable health and other services and assisting community members to achieve and maintain optimal health and well-being. The health promoter creates and disseminates information and educational materials using proven communications strategies, engages in community development activities, and uses research evidence and community feedback to guide the development of programs, resources, consultations and policy briefs.

**day to day responsibilities**:
**Health Communications**
- Creates communications materials such as newsletters, brochures, posters and fact sheets, working with writers graphic artists and others as needed.
- Maintains lively and interesting communications about issues related to parenting 2SLGBTQ youth on social media including a specialized website, Face book page, twitter account, blogs, newsletters, etc.
- Oversees the maintenance and functionality of the website and other electronic media used by the CBI programs.
- Responds to program enquiries and provides appropriate information or links to other resources.

**Program and Community Development**
- Identifies the ongoing health/social issues of parents of 2SLGBTQ youth and families through individual contacts, surveys, literature searches and work with community organizations.
