NOVA Chemicals’ Information Technology team provides information technology (IT) solutions for our employees across business and manufacturing teams. We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate IT Systems Analyst to join our Manufacturing Platform Technologies team within our IT Infrastructure Organization. This position will be located at our Joffre Manufacturing Site near Red Deer, Alberta.

Our Infrastructure Organization consists of multiple teams with members physically located at various NOVA Chemicals locations. You will collaborate with highly motivated team members across NOVA Chemicals to implement solutions following our NOVA Chemicals management of change process. The role will provide you with opportunities to provide IT solutions to business stakeholders along with growing their own skills by learning existing and new technologies as they are introduced into the environment.

**You Will Use Your Expertise To**:
Design, develop, test, and implement solutions using defined methodology
Initiate incident investigations and lead resolution of incidents where standards and guidelines were not followed
Create and deliver threat awareness and user education programs
Collaborate with clients and other IT professionals to define business security requirements in order to ensure NOVA Chemicals’ information confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained
Facilitate cross-functional efforts to identify, prioritize and resolve root causes of problems
Recommend and/or develop systems modifications to reduce problems
Act as client advocate as required to gain resolution
Independently recognize, research, and/or isolate problems as well as provide resolution and follow up documentation
Develop plans for asset replacement, disposal and procurement
Develop plans to ensure optimal performance of IT assets
Monitor metrics to identify gaps and opportunities to ensure optimal performance
Participate in projects to develop and implement integrated system solutions, may also coordinate components of larger projects
Seek understanding and adheres to licensing terms
Interact with vendor technical support, providing guidance to peers on escalation processes
Estimate the resources and effort required to complete planned activities, including components of larger projects
Identify and mitigate potential risks utilizing change management processes
Create deployment jobs using MS PowerShell to automate installation packages, including managing the deployment lifecycle
Learn and collaborate with peers to prioritize, develop, and execute plans for assigned activities and hardware refresh projects
Collaborate with IT peers, business stakeholders and vendors to develop solutions
Develop and maintain technical documentation
Maintains HPC cluster hardware and software directly or via vendor support

**What We Are Looking For**:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5-7 years related experience and continued professional development OR 10+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience with continued professional development.
Expert knowledge of both Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux server operating systems is a must
A proficient understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
Working knowledge of enterprise storage and backup solutions; On-Prem & Cloud
Ability to develop VB and PowerShell scripts to automate Microsoft Windows
Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
Motivated to learn and is tenacious at troubleshooting issues
Ability to escalate issues internally and seek vendor support when required to keep the IT systems running reliably
Ability to work and collaborate within a highly technical team, build on each other’s ideas and is eager to learn new technologies
Strong organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
Ability to remain focused, methodical thinker and possesses a high attention to detail
Effectively gathers information and understands customer need
