Your Opportunity:
The Project Manager is a professional position supporting non-interventional clinical research at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI). This position will oversee a variety of cancer research studies, ensuring appropriate processes are followed to launch and oversee the observational studies. This position will assist in identifying existing resources within the health system to support the research, and will serve as the liaison between the Principal Investigator(s) and the support service departments to outline project requirements and seek appropriate solutions. In addition to providing oversight of cancer research projects, the Project Manager will assist with the financial management and budget negotiations for the studies, support the development of other research proposals and/or grant submissions, support chart reviews and data entry for observational studies, provide recurring grant reporting and status updates to a variety of stakeholders, and other research-related activities at the CCI as required. This position will also partake in strategic discussions, looking to identify opportunities to coordinate research support across Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) as appropriate. While reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager within Clinical Outcomes Research, CCI, the Project Manager will also receive direction from the Principal Investigators overseeing the cancer research projects they are supporting and work closely with multiple other internal/external departments.

Description:
This position requires extensive project management/study oversight. The responsibilities include leading multiple start-up processes for clinical observational research studies - including ethics submissions, operational/administrative approvals, legal review, terms of reference and financial setup, budget negotiations with the sponsor, protocol development; manage multiple study related processes (once launched) - including consenting patients to research studies; logístical planning for sample collection and shipping; ethics amendment/extensions, invoicing, invoice payments, chart reviews, consenting patients; sets and tracks key milestones and objectives, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with the required workload; managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the clinical studies, including identifying and resolving issues and conflicts as they arise; providing regular progress reports to funders and senior leaders, as required; and escalates issues/risks appropriately to the Senior Project Manager and Principal Investigators. In addition, the project manager will be expected to develop strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to liaise with required business support groups (I.T., Legal, Finance, Communications, Data Analytics) to address project issues and advance the work. The individual will be expected to maintain a professional demeanour and explains scientific terms in an easy to understand manner when engaging patients to discuss consenting. The individual will be expected to recommend and develops processes, procedures and other supports to assist with the project while demonstrating a knowledge of how people/resources/information flow through the health system.

**Required Qualifications**:
Baccalaureate Degree in a health related field required. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum 2 years' experience working within a health care setting; acute/ambulatory setting preferred. Minimum 2 years' experience launching and overseeing health research studies, ideally in the cancer setting. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Strong track record establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships. Experience with Northern Alberta Clinical Trials + Research Centre's (NACTRC) ENCAPS system. Experience with the Institutional Research Information Services Solution (IRISS) ethics online system. Familiarity with research documents (i.e. research protocols, data transfer agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, etc.). Experience developing project budgets and tracking expenses.
