The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to save lives and prevent water-related injury since 1896. We are a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world.

The **Finance Assistant **is responsible for supporting day-to-day transactions, processing payments, maintaining cost reports, and managing invoices.

The **Finance Assistant **will have excellent organizational and time management skills. They will also be able to develop efficient strategies and tactics to ensure that day-to-day financial related tasks are completed in a timely manner to help maintain our organization’s financial health and make sure our resources are used beneficially.

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
- Update financial spreadsheets
- Prepare balance sheets
- Track and reconcile bank statements
- Support cost analysis reporting (fixed and variable costs)
- Process payments
- Support monthly payroll and keep organized records
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process invoices and follow up with clients, suppliers, and partners as required
- Provide administrative support during budget preparation
- Participate in quarterly and annual audits

**THE SKILLS YOU BRING**
- Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail, with an ability to sport numerical errors

**THE REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Working experience as a Finance Assistant or similar position
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a relevant field is an asset
- Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
- Knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to non-profit voluntary sector organizations is an asset
