The Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator, will actively provide leadership in developing and strengthening the Lumenus Community Services youth and family engagement strategy through the following activities: embedding key principles at every level of the organization; informing best practice, new cultural norms and expectations; and building capacity and sustainability for the agency as a whole while supporting current youth and family engagement programming through the Youth Engagement Committee, Family Engagement Committee, and the New Mentality activities.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Operationalize the Lumenus youth and family engagement framework**
- Promote youth and family engagement activities across the agency through internal committees
- Develop and execute educational opportunities about youth and family engagement in collaboration with the youth and family engagement facilitators and related committees within the agency and the community
- Provide consultation to program staff across Lumenus regarding youth and family engagement
- Support Lumenus staff in creating opportunities for embedding youth and family engagement principles across the agency
- Hire and support youth and family engagement facilitator positions
- Chair monthly family engagement committee meetings
- Actively recruit for staff members and family members to participate in engagement committees

**Develop key partnerships within the community**
- Collaborate with key partners on youth and family engagement focused initiatives
- Liaise with sector youth and family engagement communities of practice

**Evaluation**
- Collect data for evaluation of the agency youth and family engagement strategy as a whole, as well as the specific activities within the framework
- Analyze Lumenus’ compliance with accreditation and industry standards for youth and family engagement

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in social services or social studies
- Minimum 2 years experience supervising youth groups/projects

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Strong group facilitation skills
- Ability to recruit and work with diverse youth and family members
- Computer and social media literacy
- Experience working effectively with youth and family members
- Ability to demonstrate and work through a lens of sensitivity to diversity related to race, religion, culture, cognitive functioning, poverty, sexual orientation and gender identity, etc.
- Demonstrated capacity for networking with strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively liaise with a variety of agency staff, external professionals and individuals
- Self-starter with ability to work in team environment and take initiative while accepting guidance
- Strong documentation and writing skills
- Strong organizational and administrative skills

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process
- Flexibility and ability to work 2-3 evenings per week to facilitate youth and family meetings
- Must be able to participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions as required
- Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with wider staff teams and abide by Lumenus policies.
