The CIF-IFC is dedicated to providing national leadership in forestry and forest stewardship, promoting competency among forest practitioners, and fostering public awareness and education of Canadian and international forest and forestry issues.

**About the position**:
Join a fast-paced, passionate, and close-knit team dedicated to inspiring confidence and pride in Canadian forestry Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager will manage and lead in the development, organization, and delivery of CIF-IFC communications including, but not limited to, social media, website, campaigns, marketing, products, and resources. The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and managing CIF-IFC's communication strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement. This is a remote position within Canada, and the CIF-IFC National Office is located in Mattawa, Ontario.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Oversee all internal and external communications for the CIF-IFC, ensuring optimal brand integrity (both visual and written).
- Generate awareness of all CIF-IFC programs and initiatives using informed content, communication tools, community outreach and partnership development.
- Create content (written and visual) for a variety of different audiences and stakeholders (forest practitioners, general public, students, youth, etc.).
- Manage and maintain social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn and YouTube).
- Manage and maintain the CIF-IFC website (creating and updating webpages and visuals, posting news, blogs and events, troubleshooting, etc.).
- Develop, manage, and maintain communication plans, budgets, and analytic/performance reports.
- Write and/or proof-read content for CIF-IFC communications products and resources.
- Lead communications for National Forest Week, an annual one-week campaign coordinated by the CIF-IFC.
- Support the development and production of CIF-IFC’s National Conference and Annual General Meeting.
- Act as the support staff on select CIF-IFC National Committees as required.
- Manage and lead in the development, organization, and delivery of communications for Free to Grow in Forestry (a diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative of the CIF-IFC) including, but not limited to, social media, podcast, website, e-newsletters, campaigns, marketing, products, and resources; oversee all internal and external communications for Free to Grow in Forestry, ensuring messaging and brand is consistent and engaging.
- Manage and lead in the development, organization, and delivery of communications for _The Forestry Chronicle _(the official scientific journal of the CIF-IFC).
- Work closely with the CIF-IFC Management Team to deliver on required tasks.
- Directly supervises Forest Communications Advocate and helps supervise other employees.
- Other communications tasks as assigned.

**Education**:

- Post-secondary degree/diploma in one or more of the following: communications, public relations, journalism, forestry, natural resources management, and/or environmental sciences.

**Experience and skills/qualifications**:

- At least 2-years of experience in a similar position.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills **(bilingual in English/French is an asset)**.
- Knowledge of forest/forestry and forest sector issues in Canada and global trends is an asset.
- Highly-organized with exceptional time-management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
- Outstanding leadership and management skills.

- Creative with a high attention to detail.
