The GFP&A group is responsible for the development of All Bank P&L forecasts, financial metrics, as well as asset and liability growth and wholesale funding utilization by business line for quarter-end reporting, quarterly forecast update, regular weekly/monthly updates, annual Planning, 3 Year Strategic Planning, annual stress testing program and other adhoc requests from senior management.
The Manager, Forecasting has primary responsibility for leading all aspects of business line wholesale funding utilization reporting. This includes managing and making recommendations on changes to the methodological framework, model enhancement/development to ensure consistency with the framework, analysis of utilization trends, reporting as appropriate to senior Finance and Treasury management, including quarter-end Bluebook (key internal management reporting package) and Forecast reporting, as well as liaising with business line Finance teams and senior Treasury management on reporting issues.
The second primary responsibility includes preparation and distribution of the all-bank quarterly interest and foreign exchange rate forecasts, monthly forecast Rates updates, pre-quarter estimate rates and the monthly reporting of actual key interest rates. Responsibilities include oversight of the Smart Automation BOT developed to collect and report daily rates for monthly actual rates reporting.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Provide leadership in the development, reporting and analysis of Bank wholesale funding (WSF) utilization by business line; assess requirements for changes to WSF actual and forecast reporting methodologies and procedures, the process for collection of data, and execution of appropriate maintenance/enhancement of models to improve reporting. Includes:
- Undertake analysis and provide insightful reporting and communication to senior management on Bank WSF utilization; and liaise with business line management to identify areas of improvement
- Download actual and forecast balance sheet data from financial reporting systems into WSF models, execute reconciliation process and complete all reporting requirements.
- Lead the coordination and development of the quarterly interest and foreign exchange rate forecasts: scheduling and coordination of meetings with senior Treasury and Economics personnel, participation in rate forecast meetings/discussions, record-keeping and execution of full rate forecast reports.
- Maintain actual interest rate reporting models and provide timely reporting of monthly actual rates to business lines. Liase with Smart Automation development teams for ongoing maintenance and oversight of the Rates BOT
- Other Ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
**Experience / Education**:
- A post secondary business or finance degree such as a B. Com, or an accounting designation and/or enrollment in an MBA, Masters of Finance or CFA/CMA program.
- Highly developed analytical and quantitative skills, with good attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for preparation of material to Executive.
- Thorough understanding of management and financial accounting concepts
- Good knowledge of components of the balance sheet
- Ability to work quickly and accurately to meet tight deadlines and to function with autonomy.
- Strong organization and spreadsheet skills with good knowledge of Excel, Word and Power point.
