**About Us**:
The **Office of Indigenous Initiatives** is responsible for championing and/or supporting through advice and counsel Indigenous initiatives across a broad range of areas including; student affairs, academic programs, workforce planning, space planning, policy and implementation, and training and development etc... Through collaborative and community-engaged processes, the Office will facilitate partnerships that increase Indigenous voices and presence across all levels of work, study and research at Western.

Within this Office, the **Indigenous Student Centre** unit is organizationally housed, and offers culturally-relevant wholistic and strength-based programs and services geared toward Indigenous students at Western.

**Responsibilities**:
The Coordinator, Indigenous Admissions & Enrollment will play a vital role in advancing Indigenous strategic enrollment directions at Western University. The incumbent will work in collaboration to expand the national and international reputation of Western as a leader in Indigenous education, and will manage the development, implementation, expansion, and evaluation of strategies for **the recruitment of Indigenous students at the undergraduate and graduate** levels to Western University. They will be responsible for identifying and pursuing opportunities for new and expanded partnerships, and will work closely with communications professionals on campus, as well as with Indigenous communities, to assess, analyze, develop, and implement innovative and culturally relevant marketing strategies.

- Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Marketing, Indigenous Studies or other related field
**Experience**:
- Minimum Required:_
- 5 years
- Experience in an administrative environment providing customer service to multiple stakeholders
- Experience working in Indigenous communities or with Indigenous student populations
- Experience working in Indigenous postsecondary educational settings
- Other Experience: _
2 years’ experience in a role related to student recruitmentSkills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Familiarity with theory and best practices in media relations and public affairs
- Familiarity with social media and technology platforms relevant to engaging Indigenous students
- Knowledge of post-secondary programs, protocols and processes related to admissions with familiarity with Indigenous Student Services and Indigenous admission practices across the postsecondary sector
- Thorough understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, band and funding structures
- Presentation skills to deliver engaging and informative presentations that clearly explain information to audiences using appropriate communication channels
- Ability to understand Indigenous student and community needs and expectations and provide excellent service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to act on new information and effectively contribute in a changing environment
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Self-directed, and comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgment in a fast
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the university’s events and activities
- Ability to listen, inform, explain, and advise students on academic processes and regulations
- Ability to work independently and maintain direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work
