**Unit Profile**:
Reporting directly to the Director of the Surgical Program at Halton Healthcare, the Patient Care Manager (PCM) works in collaboration with the Surgical leadership team including the OTMH Chief of Surgery, the OTMH Chief of Anesthesia, the Professional Practice Clinicians, Acute Pain Service and Clinical Resource Nurses to implement clinical program priorities, oversee the daily operations, and the delivery of patient care services within the Pre Admission Clinic, Surgical Day Care and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit. The role of the PCM is critical in supporting partnerships with internal stakeholders including surgeons, anesthesiologists, the management team and surgical programs at our Milton and Georgetown sites.

The PCM is an inspiring leader who creates a work environment that promotes collaborative and respectful interprofessional teamwork and an exemplary patient and family experience. She/he is responsible for the collaborative development and leadership of departmental strategic plans and setting standards for quality care for OTMH surgical patients. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating activities related to the provision of high-quality patient & family centered care services and programs; selecting, hiring and developing staff; working collaboratively with the Surgical team; involvement in equipment and supply procurement and maintaining fiscal accountability. This role also shares in providing Manager On Call coverage for OTMH.

- Bachelor of Nursing Degree
- Masters prepared or evidence of substantial completion
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current clinical experience in a similar setting required
- Progressive leadership experience in a similar hospital environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others towards professional excellence
- Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate and operate in both structured and unstructured situations.
- Demonstrated expertise in quality improvement
- Demonstrated change management skills
- Strong planning skills, strategic and operational.
- Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to the Patient Experience strategies at Halton Healthcare
- Demonstrated ability to foster team building
- Demonstrated ability to create and sustain trust with peer leaders & health system partners
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Excellent human resource management skills including recruitment and retention of staff
- Excellent budgeting and financial management skills including a demonstrated ability to forecast plan and monitor the operating and capital equipment budget.
- Demonstrates a current knowledge of best practices in perioperative care of surgical patient and draws upon contemporary evidence and/or research based practice methods and standards.
