Edge School is seeking an experienced Controller; reporting directly to the CEO, you will form an integral part of the Leadership Team at Edge School.

**Key Accountabilities**

The responsibilities of the Controller include, but are not limited to:

- Key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to leadership, financial awareness, cost management and school financial sustainability.
- Manage full cycle accounting function including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, capital analysis, reconciliation and variance explanation.
- Accountable for asset management, payables, receivables, including invoicing and contract management.
- Prepare, coordinate and communicate monthly, quarterly and annual Reports to Leadership, the Society Board, Department of Education, Bank and other organizations as required.
- Ensure that appropriate systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls are in place for the timely and accurate completion of reports.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Coordinating year-end audit with external accounting firm.
- Monitor cash position to ensure compliance with operating line covenants.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team and Society Board to provide them with relevant historical and forward-looking financial and statistical analysis, information and recommendations.
- Responsible for overseeing the accounting function and team, including hiring, training and mentoring.
- Coaching operational staff as it relates to financial processes and budgets.
- Develop, oversee and execute Organizational and Business Unit performance metrics and scorecards.
- Assist in the development of results oriented business plans, increase productivity, cost saving initiatives and process improvement.
- Take on additional strategic projects and initiatives that will have a tangible and lasting impact on the organization.
- Managing treasury functions.
- Oversee the operational HR Function including employee payroll, benefits, handbook, policies and wellness programming.
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage for safeguard of assets; primary liaison with insurance company and associated workings.
- Coordinate and liaise with both internal and external customers.
- Ensure statutory filings are submitted by deadlines (E.g. GST, T3010, T4/T4A)
- Ensure funding is applied for as needed (E.g. transportation)
- Education_
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and Professional accounting designation
- Experience_
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience with full cycle accounting responsibility, with a minimum 3 years’ operating in a Controllership capacity.
- Experience leading and managing a team and working collaboratively in a team environment.

**Compensation**
- Negotiable, based on level of education and experience
