**What is the opportunity?**
- Assist management with the sourcing and hiring process for the Safety department
- Provide site specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners and clients
- Develop and train supervisors and staff on the Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
- Review project plans and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks
- Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards
- Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public
- Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on project sites
- Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures
- Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards
- Represent Aecon at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters
- Other duties as assigned

**What you bring to the team;**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating and managing health and safety for industrial, mining and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”)
- Bachelor’s degree, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) and, Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required
- Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in working on heavy industrial, mining and infrastructure projects.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Excellent meeting and training facilitation
- Understanding of WCB, Claims Management and return to work program
- Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites
