**Description**:
Located out of the Sherwood Park 3 office, the Supervisor, Pipeline Field Operations (the “Supervisor”) will report to the Senior Manager, Pipeline Field Operations. This front-line leadership role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of pipeline field employees, contractors, and assets to meet the company's strategic plan and supporting initiatives. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, compliant, cost-effective operation of the pipeline business in a defined area. The Supervisor leads a local team of Operations Seniors, Technicians, Certified Trades and Administrative Support personnel. and works closely with other Supervisors and company support groups to achieve performance objectives.

Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Lead and support the development of consistent work practices for pipeline system (i.e.: pigging, mechanical, electrical, etc.).
- Develop goals, objectives and measures with employees that are individualized and directly support the corporate strategic plan.
- Provide regular and timely feedback and coaching to improve performance of your employees.
- Encourage cross-training to identify and leverage best internal practices.
- Promote a positive image of IPL to external stakeholders at industry meetings, open houses, or community events.
- Work with Operations Services (EH&S, Compliance, Integrity, Ops. Engineering, Land) to get advice on matters that are unclear or to deal with issues hazards, complaints, incidents).
- Ensure equipment is maintained and operated according to procedure or manufacturer's recommendation.
- Develop, monitor, report and steward to operating budget.
- Conduct regular field visits to ensure leading indicator activities such as task observations, permit audits, etc. are completed as required and targeted.
- Review all pipeline systems audit findings so that you have a clear understanding of why the issue exists, what it will take to correct and prevent further instances across your operations.
- Track operating costs for your area monthly, explain material cost variances from the Budget; provide updated forecasts at least quarterly.
- Ensure field operations-managed projects are scoped properly and managed to avoid cost over-runs.
- Support reliability processes to minimize disruption of service to Shippers whether IPL caused or caused by external parties.
- Regularly evaluate technology upgrades, industry best practices, and internal processes to meet business needs more efficiently

**Education, Skills and Experience**:

- Post-secondary education or certification/expertise in a technical field (engineering technology, journeymen trades program, power engineering) in a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in supervising pipeline or similar field operations and personnel.
- Knowledge of pipeline operations and maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of regulation and internal business processes related to this role.
- Knowledge of emergency response and regulatory requirements.
- Supervisors must complete an in-house or equivalent program in leadership/supervisory training.
