We are actively looking to fill the following full time role within our Sudbury Finance Team, located in Sudbury, Ontario.
- **Financial Analyst (1 Position)**
**Scope of the role**
The Financial Analyst works with the Finance, Accounting and Procurement departments to support the Canadian mine operations and projects and reports to the Controller. The roles main objective is the collection, analysis and reporting of information to ensure the organization is compliant with internal and external requirements while supporting sound business decisions. Attention to detail, analytical skills and effective time management are key requirements to carry out duties of this role.
**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental company and legislative requirements and policies;
- Ensure accurate and timely financial records are kept as per GAAP, IFRS and company accounting and procurement policies;
- Works with Project Controls and Contract Administration to ensure efficient flow of approvals and accruals for Operations and/or Project;
- Maintain the cost reporting system to provide reliable, complete and timely information to site management;
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and interim forecasts as required;
- Provide support to ensure site management is kept informed of short and long term financial issues and/or opportunities;
- Develop/Ensure that solid lines of communication are maintained with operating, support and technical departments;
- Ensure all invoices, work orders and purchase orders are properly cost coded and approved;
- Prepare month end accruals, allocations and journal entries;
- Support other month end processes as it relates to Sudbury Operations, Victoria Project and Ajax Project;
- Prepare monthly cost reports;
- Maintain budget variance reporting;
- Assist on capital reporting and fixed asset reporting;
- Prepare reconciliation of various general ledger accounts;
- Assist in internal/external control audits;
- Occasional Overtime is required ;
- Varying work locations a possibility. Home Office, Sudbury Corporate Office and mine sites/projects within the Sudbury Region;
- Some travel to mine site may be required;
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time that are related to this role. Duties listed in this section are not essential or intrinsic to the job but are performed at times.
**Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge**
1. Previous Related Education and/or Work Experience Required
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is a minimum requirement;
- 3- 5 years of accounting experience;
- Exposure to a mining environment or equivalent industrial organization is an asset;
- Good knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures;
- Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements;
- Understanding of related auditing and IT functions;
2. Special Skills and/or Knowledge Required
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Solid analytical and technical skills;
- Capacity to work within deadlines;
- Must be able to work independently and within a team structure;
3. Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge Required
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
- Exposure to JD Edwards preferred;
- Exposure to other accounting ERP an asset.
