Strategic Financial Analyst

Our dynamic Financial Services team is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Financial Analyst to join our organization. Located in Northeastern Ontario, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board serves approximately 6,800 students across 17 schools.
About the RoleThis full-time position involves conducting research, engaging in forecasting and analysis activities, exploring efficiencies to support the management, control and reporting of financial matters for the Board. As a key member of our Financial Services team, you will be responsible for budget forecasting, financial planning, and analysis, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Budget Forecasting: Prepare preliminary and revised estimates, conduct financial planning, and analyze implications on proposed operational direction.
- Short- and Long-Term Planning: Research, analyze, and coordinate the consolidation of planning documents with financial impacts for decision-making.
- Payroll Procedures: Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Human Resources department requirements.
- Expenditure Analysis: Forecast salary and non-salary expenditures, analyzing revenue patterns and identifying potential shortages/surpluses.
- Legislative Compliance: Interpret and advise on legislation, regulations, ministerial directives, and organizational policies and procedures.
- CORporate Accounting: Assess and recommend accounting, reporting, internal control, and audit practices for the organization.
- Training and Development: Develop and conduct financial-centered training and awareness presentations.
- University degree in a related discipline.
- Professional accounting designation or equivalent.
- Three years of work-related experience in finance.
- Strong knowledge of analytical and problem-solving methods, cost/benefit and risk analysis techniques.
- Excel proficiency and data manipulation skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience. Occasional travel to schools within the Board's jurisdiction may be required, with a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
