**Description**:
The GS1 Canada Public Affairs team is looking for a driven, self-starter Public & Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support our public and regulatory priorities. Now more than ever, it is critical for all players of Canada’s supply chain, including governments, to work together in achieving supply chain visibility and traceability capabilities through global supply chain standards for improving patient and consumer safety. You will support these efforts through research, writing, and implementation support of multiple projects including with governments, GS1 Canada boards and committees, campaigns, and on-going engagement with various stakeholders.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**:

- Conduct research and analysis, and undertake synthesis of information collected from various internal and external sources (e.g., government departments, regulations, reports, stakeholder publications) to develop a range of high-quality communication products in a variety of formats (summaries, briefing materials, presentations, reports, Q&As, backgrounders, etc.)
- Develop and maintain writing materials to support strategies, implementation plans, policy development, and related external communications
- Manage comprehensive government, regulatory, and media environmental scans to ensure organizational knowledge of sector-based industry trends, issues, pain points and policy positions and identify opportunities for engagement with organizational stakeholders
- Create consistency in GS1 Canada writing materials for governments
- Manage departmental document repository to ensure consistent briefing and meeting materials to drive and enable GS1 Canada’s external relations, government relations, and public policy activities
- Lead the monitoring infrastructure that has been established to identify existing, amended, and new regulations relevant to GS1 Canada and its subscribers
- Conduct research and business notes on regulations that affect the industries and subscribers of GS1 Canada
- Lead and manage a knowledge base platform based on GS1’s work in different industries to understand the impact of current regulations and any research on past and ongoing consultations that may affect these industries
- Manage and upkeep of existing stakeholder tools (newsletters, public committee notes, etc.) from GS1 Canada subscribers that feed into GS1 Canada’s regulatory minoring process
- Work closely with the Public Affairs team to develop regulatory considerations for the government to aid in a future of global adoption of GS1 standards and registries

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**:

- 5 to 8 years of experience in public and/or regulatory affairs, and/or journalism/communications with government as a key stakeholder
- Undergraduate diploma, ideally in regulatory affairs, political science, and or public policy
- Strong written and influential verbal communication skills to present and discuss complex issues with clarity
- Keen understanding of government policies and regulations
- Experience writing to a wide range of styles and audiences (e.g., experience writing copy and developing content for an agency, government, and/or industry organizations)
- Experience with developing sustainable tools and processes
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
