The role of the Finance area is to support Manulife Bank in all financial aspects. The Finance area is responsible for financial reporting, capital management, planning & expense budgeting, benchmarking, cost analysis, accounting policy and internal controls.

Reporting to the Director, External Reporting and Capital Management, the Manager, External Reporting and Capital Management will be accountable for providing well-researched, comprehensive and relevant advice to Manulife Bank as it relates to accounting policy, external reporting, capital management and other complex areas. The Manager will also be responsible for the preparation of the financial statements for Manulife Bank and Manulife Trust; review the financial statements of Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust; and oversee all external financial disclosures and financial reporting prepared by Manulife Bank and Manulife Trust. In addition, the Manager will also be responsible for the preparation of quarterly presentations for the Board of Directors and develop reports to meet ongoing needs of the Bank.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Preparation of the annual financial statements for Manulife Bank and Manulife Trust
- This will generally require the coordination of information from various internal partners and ensuring that financial statements are accurately prepared
- The Manager will also be responsible for dealing with audit requests from the external auditor with respect to financial statement disclosures
- Review of quarterly financial statements for Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust and Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust II
- Prepare the quarterly financial performance and regulatory disclosures report for Manulife Bank (i.e. Pillar 3 disclosures)
- Review new accounting pronouncements and draft applicable accounting policy memos with respect to any impacts for Manulife Bank, Manulife Trust Company, Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust and Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust II, which includes working with the Group Accounting Policy to ensure accounting policy treatment is consistent with Manulife Financial Corporation, where applicable
- Preparation and development of the quarterly Board of Directors presentations
- Preparation of presentations and financial information required by the rating agencies and other external partners, as required
- Review and improve external reporting processes, including leading any system implementation for reporting needs
- Develop analysis and reports in order to respond to ad-hoc queries on a range of topics
- Capital Management
- Preparation/review of monthly/quarterly capital reports and memos
- Annual review of policies and mandates
- Preparation and development of materials for the Bank’s Capital Management Committee
- Other Ad hoc Capital Management reporting and projects, as required
- Participate in monthly/quarterly Canadian Bankers Association (“CBA”) committee meetings, including the Accounting Policy Specialists Group, Regulatory Reporting Specialists Group, etc.

**Job Requirements**
- University Business Degree and/or recognized accounting designation (CPA) required
- Knowledge of the banking industry and capital requirements under Basel III
- Well organized and with high level of initiative
- Experience in building teams and managing staff
- Good presentation and business writing skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn
- Ability to multi-task
- Highly developed communication and relationship skills; able to build relationships across business divisions and across other segments
- Proven ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet deadlines
