The **EXPORT COORDINATOR** plans, coordinates, and executes the air and sea freight shipments exported from Canada, ensuring that they comply with all regulatory requirements. They will provide customer service, perform occasional invoicing and communicate with vendors, shippers, and carriers to ensure shipment(s) are handled with excellent attention to detail from start to finish.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Verifies system generated information with actual documents to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains files which includes but is not limited to opening the file, entering and updating online system with applicable data elements, pre-alerting the customer, billing the file within 5 days of shipment, issuing applicable forms and documents, and closing the file.
- Communicates clearly, timely and effectively with overseas offices, agents, customs brokers, customers and domestic vendors.
- Issues arrival notices, distributes documentation, tracks shipment movement from origin to destination (which may involve arranging release and delivery at destination according to customer requirements), proactively communicates status of shipments and processes “exceptions” (cargo delays, split shipments, etc.).
- Handles accounting processes, investigates rate discrepancies, monitors Accounts Receivable, files claims in case of damaged or lost cargo.
- Ensures compliance with all CBSA, Transport Canada and other relevant government regulations.
- Works with Sales to develop customer-specific export handling procedures for all customers, including the on boarding of new customers.
- Responsible to work with Sales, Operations and Management to assist in the preparation of SOP’s for all clients handled by the coordinator.
- Liaise with other branches and actively pursue opportunities where shipments can be optimally consolidated or routed for economies of scale while meeting customer requirements.
- Maintain current information on tariffs, licenses, restrictions and changes in export requirements. Manage cargo claims by timely reporting and with timely correspondence to the claimant.
- Communicate with customer service and sales representatives to address and resolve customer service concerns as well as provide notification for possible delays or variances.
- Ensures the timely and accurate maintenance of shipment files and the completion of data entry within YUNAS or other company system.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:

- High School Diploma.
- Two (2) years previous Export experience in the Freight Forwarding or Logistics industry along with knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with customers and prospective business.
- Accurate data entry skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly.
- Ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must retain certification training in Air/Road Dangerous Goods Transportation.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems to determine resolution.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- High initiative and ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Effective time management - ability to manage self, time, and priorities.
