Summary:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Mission Integration & Culture, within the portfolio of Mission Engagement, the Coordinator, Events & Projects works in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Providence Health Care (PHC) to assist in the planning and implementation of Mission integration and engagement events, projects, and strategic priorities. Leads internal and public programs such as staff, physician and volunteer recognition and engagement activities; community outreach activities; donations and partnerships; celebration events; annual Long Service Recognition and Mission Awards and other related Mission activities.

Works closely with the Indigenous Wellness and Reconciliation Team to help ensure all Mission activities are culturally safe and prioritize reconciliation. Leads in the development and operational implementation of Mission projects and initiatives as defined by the PHC Mission: Forward Strategic Plan and Mission Department annual priorities, including organizational culture initiatives and values-based leadership programs.

Collaborates with Communications to design and develop graphic materials in support of Mission programs and to report out on Mission activities. Facilitates groups/steering committees to carry out Mission initiatives. Assists in the preparation and coordination of grant proposals and background documentation. Establishes and builds relationships with community partners. Solicits and manages donated goods in support of community outreach activities. Maintains departmental communication tools and templates, and prepares reports and spreadsheets on department activities. This role requires a profound capacity to exercise initiative, discernment and discretion in all relationships, internal and external to PHC.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education, Training and Experience

Successful completion of a university degree in a relevant and related discipline, plus five (5) years recent experience in coordinating and facilitating various events, programs and projects within the complex structure of a large organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience and knowledge of culturally safe practices and equity, diversity and inclusion work would be an asset.

- Excellent relationship skills including the ability to engage with others effectively at all levels of the organization, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional event management skills including inception, consultation, coordination, implementation and evaluation of events and programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Informed and competent understanding of the mission, values, vision and ethical framework of Providence Health Care and Catholic faith-based health care.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and work effectively under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to effectively exercise initiative, judgment and discretion.
- Strong and consistent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate related equipment and software programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and graphics design software.
- Valid BC driver’s license an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads and facilitates organization-wide and individual site events and programs such as staff, physician and volunteer recognition and engagement activities; community outreach activities; donations and partnerships; celebration and remembrance events; and other related Mission program offerings.

2. Leads Mission Committees at various PHC sites.

3. Leads the PHC Long Service recognition program and Mission Awards program.

4. In collaboration with the Manager, Mission Integration & Culture, strives to responsibly grow PHC’s community outreach work, including developing partnerships with key community contacts and organizations

5. Works to develop new and engaging ways for PHC staff participate in community outreach and/or to give back to the community

6. Builds relationships and works closely with PHC’s Indigenous Wellness and Reconciliation team to help ensure Mission events and programs are culturally safe and prioritize our work tow
