**Overview**:
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for a range of functions within the HR department. This role provides support on employee relations matters and has direct responsibility for the coordination and implementation of HR programs (i.e. Health and Safety, professional development), as well as HR initiatives and projects.

**The Opportunity**:

- Provide support to the Manager in employee relations
- Support the HR Management team on various HR Programs and initiatives
- Manage all compliance related programs and tracking
- Administer the annual performance management process
- Support the Short and Long Term Disability Management programs
- Administer maternity/parental leaves and other leaves of absences
- Support updates to employee policies
- Update employee information in the HRIS -- as it relates to the function
- Participate as a member of the health and safety related committees, including: managing the annual review process/audit of the health and safety program, acting as the co-chair for the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), coordinating escalated and/or sensitive health and safety concerns, providing the committee with updated on changes for compliance with applicable legislation and conduct new health and safety committee member training and orientation
- Support the development of employee communications
- Respond to general inquiries or requests for forms, information, policy clarification, etc.
- Provide general administrative support (i.e. coordinate HR sessions including: book meeting/training rooms and audio-visual equipment, create and send communications, coordination of translations, coordinate catering, introducing facilitators at the beginning of sessions)
- Assist with the recruitment cycle as required
- Assist with rotational filing
- Prepare HR reports as requested
- Update HR information on the company intranet
- Work on special projects as assigned by the HR Management team
- Adhere to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met, when applicable

**The Requirements Needed**:

- Proven organizational skills and ability to manage projects and concurrent tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to think independently and outside the box
- Post-secondary education with a focus in Human Resources
- CHRP designation an asset
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HR environment with a focus on employee relations
- Experience managing projects
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and/or other HR software (i.e. Applicant Tracking Systems) an asset
- Good understanding of HR policies, practices and programs
