**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, and supervised by the Chief Technician, the Building and Exhibitions Coordinator plays a key role in areas ranging from the maintenance of the architecture building, health and safety, and the planning, organization and implementation of on site and off-campus exhibitions tied to academic content and outreach events linked to alumni reunions and the events engaging the broader public.

The incumbent is also responsible for carrying out a range of projects dealing with the functioning of the School not specifically tied to academic or administrative content. Most importantly, they assist in the preparation for all the pedagogical activities associated with all the academic programs of the school at the undergraduate, graduate and post-professional level in the fall, winter and summer terms. The staff member will assist to prepare spaces according to the Ministry of Health and Carleton University Health and Safety regulations and outfit all large spaces for studio use. The role requires capacity for long term planning in the coordination of public exhibitions and attention to meeting critical deadlines. In addition, due to the multiuse of key shared spaces in the school the incumbent provides support for layout changes operated daily.

In this role the incumbent trains, supervises and directs student assistants who support the implementation of the projects, while monitoring the safe use of all equipment. In the role of Exhibitions Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the purchasing and inventory of material resources to achieve the objectives of the pedagogical activities planned in the school as well as the off-campus exhibitions. These resources include materials needed for the functions of studios, exhibition spaces in the school, and off-campus and the maintenance of all school facilities. The incumbent also purchases materials that are used for pedagogical activities, deals with shipping of artworks for exhibition purposes, insurance, and all other needs related to the outreach events.

They will be responsible for the availability of Health & Safety (H&S) supplies in designated locations for the safe occupation of the building throughout the academic year. The staff member will supervise student assistants who will assist with the preparations for the return to campus in the Fall term.

The Building and Exhibitions Coordinator would support the preparation of spaces for studio reviews, events and lectures. They will identify and follow through on any repairs or renovations necessary to ensure that health and safety standards are maintained. They must possess the technical skills for the installation, care and disassembly of essential furnishings in classrooms/studios. The staff member provides support to the Workshop Chief Technician and may assist the Director, Faculty, students and staff by monitoring equipment needs, placing orders and liaising with Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) and with the custodial staff as required.

Working with the Director, the Chief Technician, and the Associate Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate studies and PhD program Co-Chairs, the incumbent organizes and oversees the best use of school spaces, including studio spaces, faculty and Contract Instructor offices, exhibition, and lecture rooms, and maintains an up-to-date plan of the school with all the space assignments., and notifies faculty and instructors of their allocated spaces.

The Building and Exhibitions Coordinator works independently with mínimal supervision from the Chief Technician and the School Director and must be able to function at a high level of responsiveness and effectiveness within a complex environment. This is a position that often demands quick turnaround times, and therefore requires someone capable of initiative and independence in carrying out his or her work.

The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week, however, some overtime or an adjustment in daily work hours, as well as working on weekends, and off campus in the set-up of exhibitions for outreach events or assisting faculty with research projects with a design-built component off campus may be required.

- Must be articulate and possessGood interpersonal skills due to the high level of contact with other professionals and the community at large
- Must be a team player.
- A thorough knowledge of a spreadsheet program (e.g., Excel) and E-shop is required as well as a basic knowledge of accounting for budgeting purposes.
- The ability to take initiative, set priorities, have excellent judgement and be able to work with a minimum of supervision is indispensable.
- Maturity, reliability, punctuality, accuracy and attention to detail are essential qualities.
- Organizational skills to deal with varied duties and to work under pressure
