**Public Works Manager**:
Hudson’s Hope is located on the bank of the Peace River in the Rocky Mountain foothills of British Columbia, 90 kilometres west of Fort St. John and 66 kilometres north of Chetwynd on Highway 29 Hudson’s Hope is the third oldest European community in British Columbia.

The District of Hudson’s Hope is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Public Works Manager. The Public Works Manager will, with the assistance and under the direction of the Director of Public Works and Engineering, be the principal Managerial Staff responsible for the scheduling, maintenance, and operation of the District of Hudson’s Hope’s road, sewer, water, solid waste, drainage, and other Public Works infrastructure.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Provide direction to the Public Works staff regarding scheduling, maintenance, and operation of the District’s road, sewer, water, solid waste, drainage, and other Public Works infrastructure and responsibilities.
- Coordinate and monitor the District’s road, sewer, water, solid waste, drainage, and other Public Works capital project administration and inspection.
- Review and recommend amendments, additions, or efficiencies to the District’s road, sewer, water, solid waste, drainage, and other Public Works policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the standardization of document and data management requirements.
- Implement an inclusive process that will provide staff with an opportunity for input and advancement in all aspects of the Public Works Department.
- Implement and promote a team environment throughout all aspects of the Organization.
- Other related duties as required.

**Required Skills and Knowledge**:

- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to manage a Public Works crew in the performance of their duties.
- Ability to identify, recommend, and implement technical advancements to improve departmental efficiencies.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong working knowledge of theory, principles, practices and techniques of public works, traffic engineering, municipal water and sewers engineering, and public works and utilities and facilities maintenance functions.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, including parks and recreation facilities, especially in public health and environmental protection.
- Strong understanding and commitment to customer service and public relations, and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to deal with others effectively and tactfully.
- Strong human relationship, negotiation, and mediation skills.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Secondary school graduation (Grade 12).
- At least three years of municipal experience with hands-on training, operations and maintenance experience in road, sewer, water, solid waste, drainage, and other Public Works infrastructure.
- At least two years of water and wastewater experience working in, or for, a local government agency.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s Licence. Desired Qualifications:

- Post secondary education on science, business, or engineering discipline would be an asset.
- British Columbia EOCP Level I or higher Water/Wastewater Operator Certification would be an asset.
- Five years experience in operations, inspection, construction, and project management would be an asset.

Annual salary: $90,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance will be provided as required. The District thanks all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
