The Education Analytics Office (EAO) enables the Ministry of Education and Child Care to be a world leader in the use of education data to support program and strategic planning and system performance evaluation.

The Research Officer develops and implements technical solutions to identify, and summarize for various audiences, the key information, and trends that impact student achievement. As well as the Ministry and other government organizations, external organizations and researchers use the results of this work to improve understanding of the educational system and service delivery. The Research Officer will spend much of their time providing expert consultation on technical requirements for the ministry’s data needs, manipulating large data sets within a data warehouse environment, reviewing data sets for quality and consistency, and summarizing data for diverse audiences utilizing data visualization tools and visualization dashboards. The position works with ministry program areas, management, professional and administrative staff and external contractors to support data-driven decisions across the entire K-12 system.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, social sciences or a related field and one (1) year of *related experience; OR,
- Diploma in a related field and four (4) years *related experience; OR,
- Certificate in a related field and six (6) years *related experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Related experience includes:

- o Minimum one (1) year of experience with SQL programming.
- o Minimum one (1) year of experience with relational and/or object data modelling, data analysis, data warehousing techniques, data management principles, structured analysis and design.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with Python programming.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
- Experience working with an Oracle data warehouse.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools. Experience and familiarity with Ministry of Education and Child Care datasets (demographics, results, transition, and satisfaction).**About this Position**:
