**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), the incumbent assists in providing budget, accounting and financial services within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences as directed by the Director of Finance. This includes analysis, monitoring, maintenance, control and projection of financial information. The incumbent is an expert with Aurora Finance and FAST modules (Reporting, Budget and AR) and has solid knowledge of University policy and procedures as it relates to finances.

The position is responsible for assisting in monitoring the budgets held within the broader RFHS Dean & Vice-Dean offices. This includes assisting in budget building, preparation of monthly & quarterly budget reports, reconciliation and monitoring of monthly operating reports including salary changes for all employees, and resolution of budget-related problems such as over-expenditures.

The incumbent also plays a major role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness and validity of financial information. This includes providing assistance and guidance to college departments on resolving accounting issues, monthly FOP reviews, financial analysis, budget issues and ensuring proper policy and procedures are being followed.

The incumbent must contribute to a respectful work environment and participate in workload sharing and coverage within the Rady Finance team.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- A University bachelors degree is required.
- Preference will be given to those with formal accounting education or training program.
- Two years of directly-related experience working independently with financial analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures of the University, particularly those pertaining to finance is preferred.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must have good knowledge and experience working with a computerized accounting system(s).
- Strong knowledge of accounting (theory and practical) required. Knowledge of fund accounting an asset.
- Experience with working with budgets and projection of financial information is required.
- Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, students and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize work and complete work in a timely manner.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and on a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify problems and recommend / implement solutions.
- Must be able to contribute to a respectful and collegial work environment.
- Must be capable of performing duties outlined.
