The Budget Analyst reports to the Manager of Financial Planning, Reviews and Budget Services. The position assists with the corporate financial and comptrollership function ensuring that appropriate planning, budget preparation, and financial systems are developed for the departments of Environment, Climate and Parks, and Natural Resources and Northern Development.

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Completion of the intermediate level of a recognized accounting program (CPA, CGA, CA, CMA). An equivalent combination of education and pertinent experience may also be considered.
- Extensive financial management experience in the planning, development, compilation, analysis, reporting, and control of financial information, including budgets and cashflows.
- Experience using Microsoft office suite, with advanced experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate financial information to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.
- Able to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience using SAP, PBFM or equivalent financial management software.

**Duties**:
The analyst provides expert focus as it relates to departmental budgeting, financial controls and reporting processes, and reviewing from a corporate, central perspective, accounting and financial policies and procedures from other agencies such as Treasury Board Secretariat and Central Finance. The position provides functional direction and guidance to divisional administrative/financial staff, and provides leadership in areas of responsibility, requiring a supportive and training role and the ability to analyze information received. The position also provides direction to program managers and staff including monitoring and coordinating key financial activities in divisions to effectively delivery program objectives.
