Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on various types of high-reach equipment.
The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician will be training during the daytime shift hours. Once the training period is successfully completed, the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician will then commence the evening shift hours. The training period is anticipated for 1-3 months.
Daytime shift hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Evening shift hours: Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Performs mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop.
- Performs electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots defects in heavy duty equipment.
- Repairs and adjusts hydraulic pumps, safety switches, and any other mechanical components.
- Tests repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Keeps detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Responds to road calls when required.
- Inspects, repairs and adjusts gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
- Installs and aligns engines and machinery.
- Cleans, lubricates and performs other maintenance work.
- Adheres to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless service.
- Maintains a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities**:
- Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical systems, including schematics and diagnostics
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Ability to prioritize work assignments
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, strong interpersonal skills and can work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Computer literate
**Experience, Training, Certification and Education**:
- 3- 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Successful completion of Level 3 Heavy Equipment Trades
- Possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
**Working Conditions**:
- Ability to lift up to 80lbs
- PPE required at all times
- Overtime as required
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- May be exposed to construction sites
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour
