**Job Summary**:
The Material Handler Operator must be able to safely and efficiently operate the Liebherr Material Handling Equipment. Safe operation of the machine will include, but not limited to: loading and unloading of flat deck and sided trailers of loose tin and/or heavy steel material without causing harm to personnel and/or damage to equipment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Loads and unload different type of heavy material including using material handling equipment that has a grapple and/or magnet.
- Must be able report all equipment damages to operate safely at all times
- Must be physically able to climb up and down safely from the material handlers
- To inspect all the mobile equipment before operation such as: the shear and crane and fill out the inspection sheets.
- Be able to effectively perform tasks independently.
- Moves levers to grade and sort metal.
- Adheres to pile management procedures.
- Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Be able understand limitations of equipment being used.
- Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
- Must be able to report all job hazards as well as to stop job immediately if hazards are present
- Inspect material for hazardous waste and grades different types of scrap metal
- Other duties may be assigned

- High school diploma (Or GED)
- Well-articulated and assertive.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, maintenance personnel and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Able to communicate effectively
- Mechanically inclined an asset.
- Computer literate

**Other Information**:

- Location: Richmond, BC
- Schedule: Monday - Friday from 2pm - 10:30pm (afternoon shift)
- Union environment
- Rate: $31.06/hour

**Physical Demands**:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
